About Timothy Fidel

Timothy Fidel is best known among investigators for his tireless support of all efforts to modernize computer forensic standards.

Timothy was a Special Agent with the United States Secret Service and the Environmental Protection Agency, Criminal Investigation Division. He was a major participant in the design of the Secret Service's Electronic Crimes Special Agents Program. As a certified computer forensic examiner, Tim was a well-respected member of the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists, where he enjoyed helping and mentoring peers with difficult computer evidence issues. His last post of duty with the Secret Service was with the Ronald Regan Protective Division for then-retired President Ronald Reagan and former first lady Nancy Reagan.

Timothy died unexpectedly in October 2004 at the age of 50, and he is survived by his wife and two daughters. His leadership, unselfish advice and positive impact on computer investigations prompted Guidance Software to establish the annual Timothy Fidel Memorial Award in his honor.
